New Code, Same Mission: Keeping You Ahead of IECC 2024

Part of EnergyLogic’s role is to track the adoption of new codes and keep our clients informed of changes impacting construction requirements.  We are starting to see the adoption of the 2024 International Energy Code (IECC).  The first two to jump are Thornton, effective July 1, 2025, and Golden, effective August 1, 2025.  Fort Collins is undergoing an extensive review of its 2024 adoption and expects to include a strong push for all-electric construction to help meet the city's climate goals, with adoption anticipated in the first quarter of 2026.

The 2024 IECC does not have significant changes from the 2021 IECC, so compliance should not be a substantial issue with most builders.  However, Colorado state law requires all jurisdictions that adopt a new code also to adopt the Colorado Model Ready Electric Code and the Colorado Solar Ready Code.  These two new codes require builders and architects to incorporate electric-ready and solar-ready features into the construction documents and construction process of new homes.

Our Energy Modeling Team lives in these codes and requirements every day.  Please reach out if you have any questions or need verification regarding a jurisdiction's adoption schedule or any applicable amendments.
