“L'Avenir was an incredible project to be a part of. Achieving net-zero and six above-code programs is about as much as an Energy Consultant can ask for. The location is perfect. An infill lot downtown Fort Collins sat upon a remediated brownfield gas station site is really what green building is all about. Make use of what you have and improve upon it. L'Avenir is a healthy and sustainable blueprint of a project for urban developers to follow. PV is specified to have the home at net-zero energy consumption and is coupled with extremely efficient ground source heat pumps, which negate the need for natural gas to be run to the home.
AeroBarrier system used to ensure tight building envelope and large efficient south-facing windows help ensure this home is as comfy in the winter as in the summer. Natural daylighting is critical to making the home somewhere you want to work and live in year-round. Indoor airPLUS, LEED product specification credits, and an ERV ventilation system inform us that human health is critical to this home's well-rounded design. I truly hope that we can use this project as an example for future projects around Colorado and the world!”
